Advancing medical research through collaborative effort
Medical Research and Artificial Intelligence Network (MRAIN) is an global initiative to create a network of researchers in the medical field that contributes to advancing research in the medical field using both traditional biostatistical methods and innovative novel artificial intelligence methods. MRAIN currently operates on a volunteer non-profit basis.
Vision
To become a recognized global hub for collaborative medical research and innovation, where clinicians, researchers, and data scientists work together to advance medical research using both traditional and novel methods.
Mission
To empower the medical research community worldwide by bridging the gap between medicine and data science, and supporting innovation through collaboration.
Aims
1- To build a global collaborative network of researchers, clinicians, and data scientists dedicated to advancing medical research.
2- To promote the integration of traditional biostatistics and novel artificial intelligence techniques in medical research.
3- To provide education and training in medical research methodologies, biostatistics, and AI-driven analysis.
4- To support researchers through structured mentorship, teamwork, and real-world research projects.
You can join MRAIN by completing one or more of MRAIN’s courses or workshops, having previous experience in medical research or data science, or having a peer-reviewed original publication.
You can join MRAIN by filling in this form: https://forms.office.com/e/EFwEktBxCJ
After filling in the form, MRAIN’s team will review it, and you will be listed on MRAIN’s website as an active researcher if accepted based on your previous experience or training. You will start to receive announcements for workshops, courses and research opportunities through email.
1- Medical Researcher (Team Member): After you complete one or more of the courses or workshops, you can join one of the existing medical research projects under the supervision of a team leader and a clinical expert (if applicable). You can also join as a team member if you have previous experience in research.
2- Medical Researcher (Team Leader): If you have previous experience in medical research or data science or have an existing project and need mentorship, you can lead other team members under the supervision of a mentor and a clinical expert (if applicable).
3- Data Scientist: If you have previous experience in data science or data analysis using R or Python, you can help one of the teams with the analysis of their data.
4- Clinical Expert: This role is for medical doctors who have enough clinical experience in a particular specialty to supervise other team members or team leaders in a relevant research project from a clinical point of view.
5- Mentor: This role is for an experienced researcher to supervise other members of the team from the research process point of view.

Yes, All MRAIN research projects can be conducted online.
Once a research project starts, MRAIN will connect a research mentor with a clinical expert, data scientist, research team leader, and research team members to work together on the project from start to finish till submission to a journal or conference.
MRAIN has many ongoing research projects in all fields of medicine.
MRAIN currently uses publicly available anonymized deidentified medical databases that don’t need further ethical or IRB approvals. These databases are published online by their institutions after getting ethical clearance from their side making it available to researchers worldwide. All research projects at MRAIN follow the declaration of Helsinki.
MRAIN is also open to collaboration with researchers from other research or medical institutions after making sure any research project is compliant with their ethical rules and regulations and after getting any necessary ethical approvals if needed. MRAIN complies with all necessary data privacy regulations
You can request mentorship from MRAIN by filling out this form: https://forms.office.com/e/kVRr1ULBxb
You should include a well-formulated research question in a (PICO), data source, method of data collection or extraction, number of patients, and any ethical approvals taken (if applicable). After you submit the request, you will receive an email with online meeting details to discuss the next steps.
